While most of the hotels roll red carpet for 10 – 12 hrs stay and categorise as ‘Day use’ under their market segment, then why not for lesser hours, charge for the actual hours of stay and meet the travellers unmet needs. The user is compelled to pay for the day against his/her actual need and continues to hold the room despite his errand is over much prior to the check out time. Hotels should understand that their inventory is getting locked from selling it subsequently. If allowed for the actual stay and charges accordingly, inventory can be sold repeatedly, thus increasing their occupancy, cost incurred is very meagre.
